This work was a follow-up from Peter Reynolds' original work for his PhD, which remains unpublished.
A review of the records has shown that, after the closure of the Little Butser Site in the grounds of the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, although some pits were prepared at the new Bascomb site, where occasional experiments were done by other workers, the longest run of results produced by Peter Reynolds originated from Little Butser.
These were reported in the now unavailable Year Books of 1986-89. The work showed that after sixteen years of uninterrupted use perfectly good stored grain, with high germinability in excess of 95%, was still capable of recovery from such pits. A more detailed summary of the work and results is given in the Impacts Section.
The programme is in abeyance.
