Project Consultant : Christine Shaw
Many of the publications produced by Peter Reynolds, and listed under a separate heading on our website, are not easily available, especially to non-UK residents. The intention of this archive is to reproduce some of the earliest publications and some of those which mark particular points in the evolution of the Project. It may well be that historians will also want to put the Butser Project in the context of the first endeavours at Experimental Archaeology in the UK. Some publications relating to this latter field may also be included, at a later date.
Publications will be uploaded as and when available, rather than being based on any specific systematic approach. A link to material held at Hampshire Record Office is at the foot of this page.
Apart from the specific publications given on this website, copies of all the earliest publications in Peter's Publications List, along with selected others, have been lodged with the Hampshire Record Office. The titles may be accessed as below and copies obtained via the Record Office. This is especially useful for those produced by local history societies, in Peter's very early years.
Web access http://calm.hants.gov.uk/DserveA/Advsearch.htm , click on "advanced search" and then enter 63A05/B as the Finding Number . Then click on the instruction "show the rest of this collection". Then read the "other publications" list. This gives the relevant publications deposited, the earliest being dated 1967. Alternatively, you can enter 63A05/B*, which acts as a wild card and gives only a list of all the publications held at the Record Office, as opposed to the total list of publications given on this website, as above.
