Butser Ancient Farm

Project Consultant : Christine Shaw

BAFDA 1978

After the Research Site of the Butser Ancient Farm Project had been established, from 1972 onwards, agreement was reached with Hampshire County Council to extend the project to embrace a new public demonstration area within the land designated for the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, which was itself a new venture for them.

This became known as the Butser Ancient Farm Demonstration Area [BAFDA]. The pamphlet, dated 1978, and given below, demonstrates the advances in the commitment to publicity by the County Council, as it followed on closely from the first pamphlet in 1976.

Later, the County decided to withdraw much of it direct support and the emendations on this copy, recorded as in 1982, indicate that this covers the transfer of responsibility for such pamphlets from the QECP to the Farm Management.

This copy was found in his files quite recently and is reproduced here for purposes of record and research.
