| Butser Ancient Farm closed its 2003
season in fine style with a Celtic Harvest Festival. The theme of the weekend was FUN with games, quizzes and activities as varied as an Obtacle Course, 'Feely Boxes' containing natural materials, mosaics, bread making, and the ever popular archaeology trenches. Visitors also had the opportunity to watch a roundhouse being thatched, see pottery being fired and learn how to turn wood and spin wool using a drop spindle and also discuss the use of herbs in daily life in Iron Age and Roman Britain. There were also guided tours of the nearly completed Roman villa. Christine Shaw,
